Ok, so yesterday's post apparently made me look all pitiful and stuff. SO not my goal.
Next topic please!
So I've lived in my condo about 3 1/2 years now. In the beginning I tried to have everyone (i.e. my family) over to show it off, but they were remarkably difficult. They don't even remember being so (typical). So the other night at my niece's birthday party a few of them made comments about how I never invite them over.
Rather than hiss out the plethora of nasty comebacks that whizzed through my brain at lightning speed, I responded with: "Fine. Why don't we do Thanksgiving at my place then?" (FYI- Thanksgiving here in Canada is October 14).
I showed them.
Um, except for the part where I need to fit 9 adults and 4 children into my 890 sq. feet.
So what did I do? Well, obviously I went to wikihow for advice on how to make it the best Thanksgiving ever!
OK- search "Thanksgiving"
How to buy nothing?? Wtf?! Someone needs instructions on that?
Don't get distracted Princess...
Why don't I create a new Thanksgiving tradition? Cool.
Track down an old teacher that I'm grateful to?
Next.
How to make a Thanksgiving centrepiece? Ahhh lovely.
Uh no. I don't do pumpkin guts. There's a reason I never have a jack 0' lantern on display.

How to make a day after thanksgiving sandwich?
Who are these idiots?
Why don't I just clean my condo and make a dessert? It's not like I'm doing any of the cooking anyhow. And don't get me started on how my step-mom cooks a turkey every year and tried to make me think it was a turkey cause I can't tell the difference anyhow.
Anyhow. So while I may have placated my family for never inviting them over, I think I'm the real winner there. I don't have to drive anywhere, and I bet I'll get to keep all the leftovers!

Wow..."how to make a sandwich". That website should be Thanksgiving For Dummies.
Good luck with the Thanksgiving dinner, I am sure you will do just great!
Oh and? Jensen Ackles is probably the only blond to whom I find myself inexplicably attracted. Let's ignore the fact that it makes me a cradle robber as well. ;)
Do you even have a table yet?
Good luck with that, your braver then me....
In regards to your last post.. I was not trying to make you feel bad, soo not my intent. I just felt that you have been dwelling on it at times.
In the future I will try to censer my thoughts or opinions, if I feel they might be taken negative...

Hilly- I figure if they're Hollywood types that I'm never gonna see, who cares about the age gap?
Anon- Over it. I gave a knee-jerk reaction to your comment. Little baby feelings and all that...
Oh yeah, and the table will be on loan :P
Good luck with family for Thanksgiving. If I can contribute anything, it would be my first experience with Thanksgiving, last year.
Holy crap. You're hosting a major traditional dinner with a whole load of family and you feel like a "winner?" Erm...good for you!
For the record, I've been a wife, mom, and homeowner for 20+ years, and I've NEVER even OFFERED to do Thanksgiving.
Isn't Thanksgiving just like our Christmas dinner here in England? It's just a roast, anybody can do a roast.
mmmmmm - Jensennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
*MissE wanders off into a corner*
I love Thanksgiving!!! (Mine is the 3rd Thursday in November, just to be bizarre and difficult.) I like cooking for my friends - they seem to really, really appreciate it. For 8 of us last year I did a 20-lb turkey (I know, it has HOOOGE), vegetarian side dishes, 3 kinds of potatoes, all the vegetables and 2 kinds of stuffing. I LOVE it!!! Never cared much when I lived in the US, but over here I find I suddenly get really popular around the middle of November... :-)
Last year I did pretzels, popcorn and jellybeans for appetizers, in homage to Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving... No one got the reference but me, but that was enough!!
Okay, so I realise that response made me sound really rather straight-laced (omg I LOVE cooking?!). I'm actually really wacky, I just make a fine, fine roast! :-) xx
So Thanksgiving in Canada is in October - something I've learned today for the next pub quiz.
Good luck.
hopefully ahving yourfamily over for Thankgivig will prove to be a positive experience....I love the how to buy nothing....I think I desperately need that site's advice...
That sounds like a win-win to me!
Puss
Eep. Best of luck!!!
My mom is coming down for thanksgiving... I'm excited!
I could be wrong here, my friend, but Thanksgiving is on the 13th this year. Just thought I'd point that out in case your planning coincided with the actual event rather than the day after...
*giggles*
As if I actually pay attention to anything more than "Woo hoo! A day off work!"
